Galaxy Tab and Android tablets: what can be repaired, and what isn't worth it

Android tablets range from entry level to the equivalent of a laptop. Before any quote we look at the device's value, because a repair has to make sense.

Galaxy Tab S, recent Tab A

Genuine AMOLED or LCD screen, battery, USB-C port, cameras, buttons: everything is repairable, with parts available quickly. The logic board too, at component level, at the fixed tablet price (149 €). These tablets are worth repairing, even for a screen.

Entry-level tablets and little-known brands

Parts rarely exist, and a screen often costs more than the tablet new. We tell you frankly on the phone, before the diagnosis even: in that case, better to back up and replace. If the data is the only concern, we can recover it.

The classic faults

• Cracked glass with intact picture: glass-only replacement when the panel is separate.
• Battery that no longer lasts: new cell, often the best repair to extend the tablet by several years.
• Won't charge: port clean, connector, or charging circuit.
• Child's tablet with a torn port: repairable, and we add a tip about magnetic cables.
