Phone dropped in water
Pool, lake, sink, washing machine, thunderstorm: water doesn't damage the phone on the spot, it is the corrosion of the following days that kills it. Switch it off, don't charge it, and bring or send it quickly. Rice does nothing.
What we do
Full teardown, battery removed, ultrasonic cleaning of the logic board in a suitable bath, controlled drying, then inspection under the microscope to find corroded or shorted components. Only then do we reassemble and test.
Cleaning and corrosion removal cost 49 €. If a component is affected (port, battery, screen, chip on the board), we tell you the price before replacing it.
What not to do
- Don't switch on, don't charge: current speeds up corrosion and causes shorts.
- No rice, no hairdryer: rice doesn't dry the inside, heat warps the adhesives.
- Don't wait “to see”: a phone treated within 48 h has far better odds.
Sea water, pool, mud
Salt and chlorine corrode much faster than fresh water. Even if the phone seems to work, have it cleaned: the fault often shows up two weeks later, once corrosion has eaten through a trace. The same goes for drones and handheld consoles.
